There have been news that the first developer preview of Android O  has arrived on 21/03/2017 for devices like Google Pixel, Pixel XL etc. The Android 8.0 is expected to be packed with some exciting features just like its predecessor. These are some features that one can expect from the upcoming Android version.

Better Battery Life

This is a result of the continuous impetus Google gives to Android OS in order to optimize it and limit the amount of battery drain. Android O will be similar to iOS for it would limit the functions of apps in background while multiple apps are open.

Notification Handling

Notification Snooze will help us to snooze the notification and make them quiet for a short period of time. The notification would not disappear for ever on sliding and one can snooze for a period of 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Another stronghold in notification management is arranging in specific channels. If we have bunch of technology based apps and grouped under a specific channel, we can control settings of all these apps with a single tap.

Picture in-picture Support

We are always familiar to this feature because of YouTube, it gives the ability to play a video while using other apps. Video apps will appear like floating windows playing the content. But it is unknown whether this feature is applicable for popular apps like Netflix.

Revamped Settings menu

Settings menu has undergone significant changes.  A new color scheme can be seen in devices like Pixel etc. The reshuffled menu is much shorter than in Nougat version. More descriptive sections will be shown in this menu. For example, there will be no categories like 'Wireless and networks' and instead of it sections like 'networks and internet' and 'connected devices' have appeared.

Android O, Google hasn't clarified whether O stands for oreo/orange or something else. Android Oreo is probable for they have named a Nestle trademark name KitKat previously. Anyway this version is supposed to follow the footsteps of Android N. There are many more features which grabbed the eyeballs of tech enthusiasts but these are the significant ones.

How do you feel about Android O, is it worth ?
